“An image of Jane, depression-dulled and couch-bound, mainlining nature documentaries, flickers in my memory.” #same same!

This is a retelling of Pride and Prejudice but set in the world of Burlesque and whoa my goodness what have you done to me lol.

I love the original grump Darcy but you’ve turned him into a proper wealth manager with his friend Charles that is just too good for this world. I love that Charles is described as a Norse God, is he Chris Hemsworth? And Jane is a crooning singer and those two hit it off the first night they meet.

Now I’m going to have to rummage in my costume drawer for a glove now. I have to try a “pull” on my audience. Do you realize how much he loves all these books I read? 😂

I thought this was a brilliant retelling of P&P. Bennett was so sexy and smart with so much baggage. And as usual Wickham the douche comes in and ruins everything. He’s so slimy. But Darcy, though he has his usual hiccups does end up telling her what she needs to hear. And they get very steamy!

Why is it so hot when Darcy asks if he has permission for every step of the way? And he’s a rower #pecs.

I loved the found family in the burlesque backstage and all the unique characters and talents. The drama was so crazy with Wickham doing his usual scams but I love how sometimes the easiest solution was right there and the awesome deal the sleeze gets was actually not as good. Seriously people don’t cheat, steal or take others’ work it will bite you in the ass or I will.

Thank you putnam and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Synopsis:

A sparkling contemporary retelling of Pride and Prejudice set in the tantalizing world of New York City burlesque, perfect for fans of The Kiss Quotient and The Roommate.

After a betrayal derailed her interior design career, Liz Bennet found a fresh start in New York. Now an executive assistant by day and stage kitten by night, she’s discovered a second home with the performers at Meryton, Manhattan’s top-tier burlesque venue. Love’s the last thing on her mind when she locks eyes with Will Darcy across the crowded club. The spark between them is undeniable–that is, until she overhears the uptight wealth manager call her merely “tolerable.”

Bennet is determined to write Darcy off, but once their besties fall head-over-heels, they’re thrown into each other’s orbit again and again. Each encounter begins to feel more heated than the last, but is their chemistry enough to topple that terrible first impression? What’s more, when a charming newcomer arrives on the scene with accusations against Darcy, his claims leave Bennet torn. And when a sudden development leaves Meryton’s fate in jeopardy, she will have to decide who to trust in time to salvage her design dreams, her heart, and the stage she shares with her found family…
