Ever since City Slickers I’ve been fascinated with trail riding, acting like you are in the old west and treasure hunts. I used to horseback ride as a kid which was one of the 100’s of sports my parents put me in before they found the right one lol. A horse stepped on my foot and instead of walking it off I thought we should go to the ER it hurt so bad. But once it stopped hurting I didn’t know what to do so i just stayed quiet, that’s my MO.
I just love the way these two write a second chance romance, ok I’ve enjoyed all the ones I’ve read. Lily Wilder is the daughter of Duke Wilder who is a famous treasure hunter. He’s been searching for Butch Cassidy’s hidden booty. It starts with young Lily being in love with a handsome guy that was working at the ranch. Fast forward 10 years and Lily is a fake treasure hunter guide, her legacy is in someone else’s hands, her love is a long lost memory. They have a group of guys booked for this weekend and who shows up but the guy she fell for that just disappeared.
I love these types of second chance stories. The reconnecting when things weren’t as they seemed because the message was never delivered or they didn’t know what happened to the other.
This one is about to break bookstagram I’m sure. This book makes me want to go on a hike. There are a lot of outdoor adventures, honestly I think they are rarely indoors. So be ready for some adventure!
Thank you gallerybooks and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
❓ Have you been horsebackriding? And crazy that used to be our main form of transportation.
Synopsis:
Growing up the daughter of notorious treasure hunter and absentee father Duke Wilder left Lily without much patience for the profession…or much money in the bank. But Lily is nothing if not resourceful, and now uses Duke’s coveted hand-drawn maps to guide tourists on fake treasure hunts through the red rock canyons of Utah. It pays the bills but doesn’t leave enough to fulfill her dream of buying back the beloved ranch her father sold years ago, and definitely not enough to deal with the sight of the man she once loved walking back into her life with a motley crew of friends ready to hit the trails. Frankly, Lily would like to take him out into the wilderness—and leave him there.
Leo Grady knew mirages were a thing in the desert, but they’d barely left civilization when the silhouette of his greatest regret comes into focus in the flickering light of the campfire. Ready to leave the past behind him, Leo wants nothing more than to reconnect with his first and only love. Unfortunately, Lily Wilder is all business, drawing a clear line in the sand: it’s never going to happen.
But when the trip goes horribly and hilariously wrong, the group wonders if maybe the legend of the hidden treasure wasn’t a gimmick after all. There’s a chance to right the wrongs—of Duke’s past and their own—but only if Leo and Lily can confront their history and work together. Alone under the stars in the isolated and dangerous mazes of the Canyonlands, Leo and Lily must decide whether they’ll risk their lives and hearts on the adventure of a lifetime.
